If I have to think of the trolley-theft we have here in South Africa, I could imagine that a store would want to protect them from being taken too far from the grounds. I add though, the ROI on something like that would be more the hours of fun one could have watching random shoppers learn about such mechanisms, in about the same way you did.

You are ok though, right? No injuries or anything? I can imagine it being quite painful.</description>
