I may be a Gut Health Coach but…

… Gut health isn’t just about food and supplements. It’s about the health of your whole body - which is affected by more than just what you’re putting on your plate.

Health is about optimizing all areas of your life, including your sense of purpose, your habits, your beliefs and way of thinking, your routines, and making sure all your organs are functioning at their best. As a health coach, my goal is to help people achieve their highest potential for health by looking at all of the factors that contribute to their well-being.

Primary Foods - not the kind on your plate!

One of the primary concepts I use to help my clients optimize their lives is the idea of "primary foods." Primary foods refer to the non-food aspects of our lives that nourish us, such as relationships, career, education, and joy. When these areas of our lives are fulfilled, our appetite for food is temporarily shut off because we are being fueled by other areas of life that produce things like endorphins and adrenaline. Both of which encourage health and wellness in our bodies.

The 12 areas of primary foods are represented in a wheel image that I use to help my clients visualize how all of these different aspects of their lives are interconnected. By focusing on all of these areas and balancing them, my clients are able to achieve better overall health and well-being.

Setting achievable health goals…

In my health coaching sessions, I work with my clients to set goals that are specific to their needs and desires. Some common goals include:

  • Better energy levels throughout the day

  • Falling asleep easier and sleeping better

  • Stop cravings for certain foods and understanding where they come from

  • Lose or control weight in specific parts of your body

  • Learn to manage stress so it doesn’t affect your mind and nervous system

  • Eliminate bothersome symptoms

  • Decrease bloating and food sensitivities

  • Address allergies

  • Find a sense of purpose in life

Together, we look at the foods they're eating and where we can adjust to help them reach their health and wellness goals in all areas of their life. Each session is tailored to exactly what their body needs, and we work together to find the right path for them.

Assessing Your Health, Getting you to your goals, and setting you up for success in maintaining health

To get started, I review my clients' Health History form and discuss each item in more detail to see how it plays a role in their daily life. We then discuss their motivations for getting healthier and how I can help keep their motivation intact. We talk about what's standing in the way of them getting what they want so that we can find the right path for them.

Each session after that is spent checking in on progress, talking through the areas of their life that need balance and finding tools to help achieve that balance, optimizing the foods they're eating, and celebrating their successes. We can also review bloodwork they've had done with their doctor to see if their diet needs supplementation of any vitamins, minerals, essential fats/acids, etc.

Health coaching with me is a blend of nutrition coaching, life coaching, and therapy-like conversations, depending on what areas of their life and body need rebalancing in order to achieve their highest potential for health. It's a way to make changes in your life quickly and effectively, without having to become an expert on a condition you're experiencing or rely on pharmaceuticals to manage unwanted symptoms.
